Linear functions in context

A linear function changes by the same amount every step, like a taxi fare with a starting fee plus a price per mile. The Digital SAT Math section likes to ask what each number in the equation means.

This lesson starts with functions and f(x) notation so it feels familiar. Then you practice reading slope and intercept in real situations and saying what each one tells you. Animated pictures, a quiz after each part and practice questions give you plenty of practice. Short real-life examples, like phone plans and taxi fares, keep it concrete.
